Finding the right well driller for your project can be a difficult task. At Price Well & Pump, we’ve got you covered!

How to Find the Best Well Drilling Expert for Your Needs

Whether you prefer to hit the internet up and search for a local well driller, or you are partial to the old school way of asking a neighbor or friend―there are many factors to consider when hiring a specialized contractor. Price Well & Pump has served Western North Carolina in well drilling services since 1972. Read on for more information to help you make the best decision possible for your well drilling project.

There is a lot that goes into running a business. It is much deeper than just drilling a hole in the ground to slap a well in, and we do not operate with the sole mentality of making a profit. We provide a supply source for what is literally the universal solution of the entire world! That carries a lot of responsibility and weight. This is a very detailed and intricate job, and several aspects of it can be incredibly dangerous. It is very important that who you hire comes with experience, a sound mind, and a level head. This job requires someone’s full attention from the start to finish, to avoid fatal errors.

It’s important to hire someone who knows their stuff. With half a century of experience under our belt, you could say we know a thing or two! You need someone who will know how to work a rig; someone who is well-equipped, so the job gets done properly and efficiently; someone who knows not to let groundwater get into the well; someone who is aware of the proper protocol to follow, to ensure you do not pay someone to put in a well that has contaminated water from day one. We know how to handle all of this and more!

It bums us out when we have clients call in and tell us they paid someone to drill a well, and the guy comes out and “starts the job”, takes their money, then never returns to finish the work. This may sound like just another story about someone else… until it happens to you. This has happened more than once, or we wouldn’t even think to mention it. That’s right, we’ve had clients pay someone else to do the work who (unfortunately) wasn’t reputable. Then, they end up paying us to come do the job right―the honest way―no corners cut whatsoever. That is why it is imperative for you to hire someone with proper accreditation. Anyone can call themselves a well driller, but are they:

  • Licensed by the state of North Carolina?
Price Well & Pump is a Certified Licensed Well Contractor in N.C. This holds us accountable with the state, and in return we have a higher standard of expectations to adhere to, as opposed to someone who is working “under the table” so to speak. You can click the link below to ensure your contractor is N.C. Certified.  https://www.ncdhhs.gov/divisions/public-health/north-carolina-well-contractors-certification
  • A member of the North Carolina Groundwater Association?
The North Carolina Groundwater Association started in 1946. It is the only organization in N.C. to specifically represent well contractors, and also provide continued education/ research as well. Price Well & Pump is a proud member of The N.C. Groundwater Association, and we encourage you to check out the link that follows to learn more about their role in our field of work.  https://ncgwa.org
  • Aware of the unique North Carolina state AND local guidelines- which apply to the type of well you need?
For example, are you in need of a well for your business? A commercial well tends to call for more water than a residential well. This also means the well will have a wider diameter, and it will need to be deeper. Price Well & Pump knows all about plot plans, minimum output criteria, and all other specifications that go along with N.C. commercial well drilling requirements. This is a whole different ball game, so to speak. Price Well & Pump is proud to say we are professionals (not rookies) in this field. People don’t often stop to think about what kind of equipment their contractor will have. It is easy to assume that because the company has something about well drilling or well services in their name, they will surely have what is needed to get the job done.

Well drilling equipment varies, and it depends on what type of well is needed. For example, a residential well is not going to call for the same type of set-up as a geothermal well. Not every well uses the same rig, either. In fact, rigs vary from job to job, and it is detrimental to have the proper sized rig for the job.

Has the contractor you hired educated themselves on this? You don’t want to have a well sized improperly. For example: a business well will be larger than a residential well and requires a different drilling process.

Just as you use different bits for your drill at home, drilling a well calls for different equipment. If a well gets sized incorrectly, the level of consequences you will suffer from is immeasurable. It pays to have a team of experts on your side.

Why Customer Service Matters in Local Well Drilling

At Price Well & Pump Company, we are more than just a business. We’re your neighbor. We have serviced many families along the way. We remember when our clients’ children were little. We have clients who were parents when we put their well in, and now they are grandparents! We have clients who used us when their children were younger, and now their children call us for their own well! Don’t take our word for how we go above and beyond the call of duty… see for yourself what others say about us:

“Last week, I had a problem with the holding tank not shutting off for my well. I realized there was a problem at 4:30 pm, with snow on the ground and freezing temperatures. I called three well drilling/repair companies —with Doug being my third call. (Should have been my first) He was the only one that asked me questions and continued to try to help after closing hours of 5pm. The next morning, two of his crew showed up early and had the problem repaired within the hour. Price Well and Drilling was excellent and I’m thankful we have this company in Haywood County!”

“I had never had a well before I bought my current home here in Waynesville. I have had to contact Price Well and Pump a few times now for help! They are so quick to respond and very knowledgeable. I am grateful to have them looking out for me and my wonderful water! Thank y’all so much!🧡”

“I have known the Price family for many years. Our family consider them friends as well as a business acquaintance. I have worked with them in the real estate business for inspections, etc., and for over 30 years have utilized wells they drilled and serviced for our family. They are top notch. I appreciate their work ethic, friendliness, reliability, quality of work, excellent service, promptness, and overall business and personal morals. Highly recommended!”
